Single Directional Acceleration Switch - SQ-ASF

The SQ-ASF is a normally open switch when at rest and closes when exposed to acceleration above its threshold in a single direction.  The ASF is highly resistant to accidental closures when accelerated off axis, making it idea for critical applications where false triggering is highly undesirable.  In addition, the ASF is also deigned to resist resonance false-triggering as its internal structure is inherently anti-resonant.

SignalQuest announces the SQ-ASF Single Directional Acceleration Switch with activation ranges from 5 g to 5,000 g and activation times from 0.1 ms to 2 ms.

Lebanon, NH (March 14, 2019) – SignalQuest, Inc. today introduced the SQ-ASF Single Directional Acceleration Switch (shock switch) with activation ranges from 5 g to 5,000 g and activation times from 0.1 ms to 2 ms.

This SQ-ASF is a normally open switch when at rest and closes when exposed to acceleration above its threshold in a single direction.  The ASF is highly resistant to accidental closures when accelerated off axis, making it idea for critical applications where false triggering is highly undesirable.  In addition, the ASF is also deigned to resist resonance false-triggering as its internal structure is inherently anti-resonant.  Many designers familiar with other acceleration switches know that false-triggering can occur at much lower thresholds than the rated g level during sinusoidal (sine sweep) testing or other real-world events that accidentally resonate the proof mass.

Typical applications include detecting: high acceleration in one direction (linear acceleration), high spin rate about one axis (centripetal acceleration), and high impact in one direction (shock).  The designer can also create a fully passive system the detects specific motion sequences using multiple single directional switches.  To make manufacturing simple, the SQ-ASF comes loaded in tape and reel in 1 of 4 different orientations (up, down, left, right) relative the surface mount landing on the PCB, making idea for high volume application.

The high temperature construction passes helium leak testing for hermeticity and can withstand elevated storage and operating temperatures by special order.

About SignalQuest

Over the past 20 years, SignalQuest has produced over 100 million sensors across the SQ-SEN and SQ-ASx lines making us the most capable high volume inertial switch manufacturer in the world.

We offer a robust design, qualification, and production test process that is unmatched in the industry.  If high reliability, high accuracy, short lead times, and “Made in the USA” matter for your application, then please inquire to learn how we can help.  All design, tooling, prototyping, testing, and volume production are done at our facility in Lebanon, New Hampshire, USA.  Custom thresholds samples typically take 1 - 4 weeks to produce with full volume manufacturing in as little as 3 weeks thereafter.
